The media attention surrounding proposed social care reforms from 2016 is a reminder that funding care has been a topic of debate for some time. The International Longevity Centre UK (ILC-UK) -- a leading longevity and demographic change think tank -- has set up The Care Funding Advice Network to help tackle the issue. Their objective is to make sure the complex network involving local government, financial advisers, social workers and many others works seamlessly so that care self-funders get the financial advice they need in the new partnership model.

With the support of leading reinsurer Swiss Re, ILC-UK launched this essential new work stream at the ILC-UK 2013 Summer Party. The event was held at the iconic "Gherkin" building in the City of London.

Rt Hon Paul Burstow; ILC-UK Chief Executive, Baroness Sally Greengross; and Russell Higginbotham, Swiss Re's UK CEO, said a few words to introduce the Network and the format allowed us to debate the key issues in a relaxed setting.
